Richard,
Great post! I just started organizing tools in my garage shop and find the layout you are discussing very efficient as well.
I noticed you have what looks like a sharpening plate setup/holder on the edge of the bench – are those diamond or oil stones? Is the holder basically recesses on a board to hold the plates?
I noticed this very thing, I’d love to know what stones these are also, I am due to receive one of those benches mid March and I would love one of those sharpening stone holders ๐
Thanks Mike and Kris,
I bought these stones quite recently having always used oil previously followed by a good stropping. These ones are diamond stones which I bought after Paul Sellers recommended them to me. The holder is something I made for them, it’s just a square of wood with a wooden frame glued on around the stones to hold them in place.
After a long time using oil stones I’ve found that I do prefer them, I guess old habits die hard!
Hey Richard that was a fast reply, how are the little john benches coming along it’s cheeky but I had to ask ๐
Kris
They’re well under way now, I’ll be posting an update on here next week.
