The Next Little John’s

May 2, 2013 By Helen 3 Comments

Update: At the present time we’re not building any workbenches for sale, however we have many resources on this website that will help guide you with your own workbench build.

Our English Workbench Video Series takes you step by step through a traditional bench build, starting out with a discussion on choosing the ideal dimensions, demonstrations of how to cut the joinery, right through to flattening your workbench top and building the face vice from scratch.

If you’d like us to guide you through your build with detailed videos and PDF plans, then you can find full details for this Workbench Series here.

Now that the long dark, days are behind us we’d like to look forward to the Summer and our next batch of Little John workbenches – we will be starting on the builds in August. Until now we’ve continued to advertise the introductory price of £785.00 but I’m afraid this does have to increase for the next batches. The price will rise to £865.00 although we would like to give a heads up if you have been contemplating taking the plunge and so any deposits made within the next two weeks will avoid the price increase.

If you’re unfamiliar with this workbench then a quick search for ‘Little John’ on here should bring up plenty of information and below is a video that we made last year which demonstrates the Little John workbench in use.

    Hello there

I just received my Little John and it has already been put to good use! It is a real pleasure with the evenings being so light now that I can spend so much longer in my workshop. I am just a learner but this extra time is a godsend and being able to work on such a fine bench is a privilege.

Thank you Richard and Helen for all your hard work, and for anyone considering one of these Little John’s, well I can only recommend it heartily and hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I have posted a picture of it in situ on my blog (please ignore that I have the same theme as theenglishwoodworker.co.uk, it’s completely by chance :D)

Hi Kris, very pleased to hear it’s getting some use already! Thanks for the link to your photo and post, lovely to see it and I think I’ll be keeping an eye on your blog to check out what it’s been up to! Great work by the way, looking forward to seeing how things progress for you as a furniture maker, good luck 🙂

Hi! Is there any plan to make the plans for the ‘Little John’ available or are you keeping it in the back pocket for when you start selling Benches again? I’ve got a very small workspace and think it would be perfect; I had planned to build a 5′ English Workbench following your videos but this may be a better solution.
